Order for hydraulics for a unique solar heating plant

Serman & Tipsmark supplies hydraulic components and systems for a numerous different applications and projects.

Test installation

One of the latest projects is an order for hydraulic systems for a solar heating plant. The installation is the first of its kind whereby electricity is produced by firstly heating oil to a temperature of approximately 320 degrees and then generating steam for a steam turbine. The residue hot water is used for town heating. It is initially being constructed as a test installation at Ø. Kærvej in Brønderslev, and the results already look promising after one month. The hydraulics in the installation enable the solar panels to follow the path of the sun, thus utilising the energy of the sun optimally.

It is expected that, in future, the solar heating installation will supply Brønderslev with electricity and town heating during the summer period. Brønderslev Forsyning won't take over the installation until it meets the requirements that have been stipulated on the basis of calculations from the space travel organisation, NASA. Here, only approximately 10 percent of the heat is wasted.

No decision has been taken yet as to investing in the major installation which will cover 27,000 square meters since the test installation has to be tested sufficiently first.

Cheaper heating for consumers

In future, the final installation will help supply cheap heating to consumers. If orders are placed for the major installation it is expected to be operational in spring 2017.
