Serman & Tipsmark optimises the food industry with a new concept

For more than 25 years, Serman & Tipsmark have produced customer-specific filling and handling systems for the food industry, and are now launching a new concept, S&T Food. With the concept, Serman & Tipsmark put further focus on energy optimisation, automation and reduction of food waste in the food industry.

Hydraulic systems are often connected to huge machines for offshore and marine installations, where a pump creates movement via fluid pressure in pipes and moves many tonnes. However, hydraulics are also widely used in the food industry for, among other things, filling liver paté in the aluminium trays, which we know from the refrigerated counter in the supermarket.

Serman & Tipsmark have produced these filling systems for the food industry for more than 25 years, and today supply as much as 95 per cent of Denmark's filling systems to the Danes' favourite topping for bread, liver paté.

Serman & Tipsmark will now build on the success with the launch of a new concept, S&T Food, which will put a strategic focus on the food industry:

- With S&T Food, we are now launching a new concept that puts a further focus on automation, energy optimisation and reduction of food waste. The concept is based on 25 years of experience in developing customer-specific automation solutions for the food industry, says Per Kristoffersen, Sales manager at Serman & Tipsmark, and continues:

- Today, our systems are mainly used for filling liver paté and other similar products, but our solutions also have potential in other parts of food production.

Serman & Tipmark's filling systems can fill up to 140 liver paté trays per minute and produce more than 30 million liver patés a year in Denmark.

- There is a great focus on food waste in the food industry, which has, therefore, started to produce in more orders, albeit smaller. Our fully automated filling systems are, therefore, geared for frequent product changes and designed to dose the liver paté with very high precision. This means that the tray is filled with exactly the amount needed to avoid overfilling and product waste - without compromising on production efficiency.

Will take on new markets abroad

In addition to launching a new strategic focus in Denmark, with the new concept, Serman & Tipsmark will also take on new markets abroad:

- Based on our experiences here in Denmark, we have also started to look abroad. This primarily applies to local markets in Europe, such as the Nordic countries and Germany, says Per Kristoffersen and adds:

- The international food industry is hungry for new solutions that can help optimise production. As in many other industries, it is often with a view to optimising operations, but at the same time there is an increasing focus on sustainability, including in particular combating food waste and reducing energy consumption, and this development spreads to companies like us that develop smart and automated solutions.
