Automated Central Lubrication on the Hadsund Bridge
Client: Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet)
In cooperation with: Cowi
Location: Hadsund Bridge, Mariagerfjord Municipality
Background and Need
The Hadsund Bridge is an important traffic connection, used daily by both vehicles and vessels. The bridge is remotely operated from Aalborg, and as part of a broader modernization project, the Danish Road Directorate wanted a solution that could reduce the need for manual maintenance while increasing operational reliability and efficiency.
Previously, lubrication of the bridge’s moving parts required a full working day once a week from an on-site employee. To future-proof the bridge and minimize manual maintenance, it was decided to establish a central lubrication system – a solution that automatically ensures correct lubrication of all critical components.

With the new automatic central lubrication system, the Danish Road Directorate has achieved:

Technical solutions, execution methods, and installation planning were discussed in detail, after which the work was carried out exactly as agreed."
"In particular, it was crucial that the agreed traffic closures of the bridge were respected. This was the most important parameter for the users of the bridge."
