Large assembly task in Rotterdam

Large assembly task in Rotterdam

Status week 10 - 2024

Serman & Tipsmark will be engaged in a major assembly task in Rotterdam, Netherlands, for the next 2 ½ months. We have rented a large assembly hall where our assembly team will work on the project, which is significantly larger than usual for S&T.

The physical dimensions of the project are 160 tons, measuring 5 x 5 x 6 meters, dimensions that we cannot handle in our own assembly hall. The location in Rotterdam is better suited, with, among other things, an overhead gantry crane capable of lifting 200 tons. Additionally, the project will be shipped from Rotterdam once assembly and testing are completed and approved.

This week, our assemblers Anders Isaksen, Jonas Kjeldgaard Christensen, and Lars Karlstrøm are heading to Rotterdam to set up the assembly area. Among other things, we have mobilised two containers in which the workshops are arranged.

Our team in Brønderslev has been busy with planning and packing to transport the workshops + the HPU to Rotterdam. The HPU, shown below, accounts for only about 7 tons of the total weight of the project; the majority is a steel structure from Asia currently on its way by ship to Rotterdam.

For the next 2 ½ months, we will have a team of 6 people in Rotterdam. They will install the HPU, lay pipes, participate in internal testing, and hand over the complete project to our customer in connection with a FAT test.

We have hired a number of subcontractors for the task, including electrical work and programming of the control system.

We will provide updates on the project regularly on this page.

Status week 15

The assembly work on the large wave compensator in Rotterdam is progressing according to plan.

The unit has been received by ship from China and we have arranged a workshop area of 200m2 for the 6-8 fitters.
The team is now in the process of installing our equipment in the unit. In cooperation with subcontractors, S&T supplies pumps, motors, inverters, valves, blocks, cooling system, control, software and much more for the unit.

Over the next 2 months, the device should be completed and tested and delivered.
