Serman & Tipsmark wins tender for renovation of Hadsundbroen

Serman & Tipsmark has just won the tender for the renovation of the Hadsund bridge, which has been tendered by the Danish Road Directorate. The bridge's eight cylinders have not been replaced since the bridge was built 44 years ago, but now Serman & Tipsmark are to replace the cylinders so that the important traffic artery can continue to be a link between Aalborg and Randers.

The Danish Road Directorate has just signed the contract with Serman & Tipsmark for the renovation of the Hadsund bridge, which leads the road between Randers and Aalborg over Mariager Fjord. The offer is closed after a careful assessment based on objective criteria of price, quality and service where Serman & Tipsmark has delivered the best quote.

- The Danish Road Directorate reviews the Danish bridges once a year to avoid errors and unforeseen events in advance, and the time has now come for the Hadsund Bridge. It is now an older bridge, and therefore the renovation was put out to tender, so that the bridge can continue to function optimally for the many road users who use it every day, says Lis Lassen, who is responsible for construction at the Danish Road Directorate, and continues:

- Serman & Tipsmark has the experience needed to solve this task. At the Danish Road Directorate, we therefore look forward to collaborating with the hydraulics company from North Jutland.

The Hadsund Bridge was built in 1976 and is a modern low bridge with two bridge bascules. It is the bridge's eight cylinders that make the bridge bascules open and close, which Serman & Tipsmark is now responsible for securing for the future.

It is always exciting to have to adapt new solutions to existing constructions, as there may be some special conditions that we must take into account. In relation to the Hadsund Bridge, we must install new cylinders that are particularly suitable for a maritime environment, so that they can last for many years, explains Henning Dybro, technical manager at Serman & Tipsmark, and adds:

- At Serman & Tipsmark, we have extensive experience  in renovation and testing of various pumps and cylinders. We are able to develop, design, construct, produce and test so that the customer can place the entire task in one place.

Serman & Tipsmark will start the renovation of the Hadsund bridge in week 48 and will work on the bridge's cylinders until week 50. In this connection, the bridge will be closed down two times in collaboration with the Danish Road Directorate, but to generate as little traffic as possible, the work will take place during the night. The dates for the two closures will be announced later in the fall.

Increasing demand for service

It is not only the Danish Road Directorate that currently offers service tasks. At Serman & Tipsmark, it can easily be felt that there is a growing market within service and service orders for both public and private customers:

Preventive maintenance ensures a high level of operational stability and helps making the systems more efficient. The hydraulics market, the maritime sector and industry in particular are in constant demand for service solutions, and this rubs off on a company like ours. We thus expect that our service business will grow in the coming years, says Henning Dybro.
